I am very happy to report that once again our
City Council has approved the same tax rate for
the Fiscal Year 2015-2016, as we have had for
the past eight years. You should receive the bill
between the middle and the end of October. All taxes are due and payable
on or before December 31, 2015. To avoid any penalties all payments that
are mailed in must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2015.

April and May are always a busy time at the City Building.
A number of items are being handled. We are busy preparing
the proposed operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year
and at the same time preparing for the outdoor spring, summer,
and fall projects. This year is certainly no different. As I prepare this article, I am also preparing
the proposed budget for Council’s consideration. In order to have a new budget adopted
it requires two readings of an ordinance. This takes place at the May and June Council
meeting.

It is always nice to hear that pitchers and catchers report
for spring training in a few short weeks. That is certainly more
reliable than a groundhog to tell us that spring is on the way.
Over the winter months it has been business as usual around
the city building. We did welcome one new face on City Council, Mr. David Leonard. Dave will serve on our Police Authority
Board and also as an alternate on the Planning Development Services Council.

With fall weather now upon us, I am able to look back at the
accomplishments that City Council and I were able to achieve since
our last newsletter. We have just completed another successful road
replacement season as we continue to follow our Five Year plan.
The spring and summer of 2015 will find several of our asphalt
streets being resurfaced. In addition to street replacements this year,
we were mandated by the federal government to replace our stop signs
throughout the City. This was necessary due to new reflectivity requirements on the face of the
signs.
