Hudson Avenue Project Update

Posted on Thursday, April 5, 2018

Dear Residents,                                                                                                                April 5, 2018

I want to take a minute to update you on the progress of the SD-1 project on Hudson Avenue. SD-1 and their contractor is still on track to meet their June deadline to be finished with the new larger sewer line that is being installed down the center of the street. If you have looked at the project lately you will see that in some areas they are 20 feet in the ground. This is necessary to maintain the correct pitch on the pipes.

Once they finish out in the street, the project will take them across the rear side of the parking lot at Barleycorns. With the warmer weather hopefully approaching, an arrangement has been worked out whereby SD-1 and their contractors will not begin to tear up the parking lot until November in an attempt not to disturb the neighbors as well as Barleycorns during the summer months when everyone is outside more often.

As you know from the recent letter you received from me, the City was going to come in right behind SD-1 and replace the street. After discussing this with our City Engineer, we have decided  to wait until all the heavy construction equipment entering the parking lot at Barleycorns from Hudson Avenue, is completed to help insure that we don't destroy any section of the new street. Hudson Ave will be 100% open and in decent condition after SD-1 concludes in June so that driving on the street will not be an issue until the new street is put in, in the spring and summer of 2019. The goal is to get 25-30 years out of the new street.

Once again, I truly thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

David Jansing, Mayor
